Kindness toward others always goes a long way. In truth, it is our kindness to those in need that keeps the world turning. Mary Summers, 92, of Texas, ended up with a flat tire after picking up a nail while driving her automobile, forcing her to visit the repair show. She received some unpleasant news when she entered Integrity Tires in Richmond, Texas. The punctured tire was beyond repair.
Unfortunately, the rest of the tires had to be replaced as well because they were irreparable and posed a risk of rolling off the road while driving.This meant that Mary was expected to pay roughly $600, which she did not afford. “The tire on her vehicle wasn’t repairable, and the other tires were shot,” explained Omar Oregueda, the mechanic who helped Mary. “They were already completely destroyed.”
Mary couldn’t afford to replace all four tires, so she requested Omar only replace the one that was punctured. She had no idea a Public Safety trooper was close behind her, listening to her every word and detecting the uneasiness in her voice as she tried to explain that she didn’t have the money.As the trooper realized that failing to change the tires would endanger both the old woman and the public, he decided to step in and pay the full price for four brand new tires.
He, on the other hand, did it without Mary’s knowledge. Trooper Drew Stoner approached Omar, told him what needed to be done, paid for the service, and left.Mary couldn’t believe what she was hearing when Omar told her about the compassionate soldier. Inspired by this, Omar wanted to do good and offered to give Mary a free oil change. “For a stranger to look after another stranger like that… let’s all just look after each other,” Omar added. “That’s exactly what it’s all about.”
Mary was grateful and wanted to convey her gratitude in person, so she requested assistance in locating the officer. Fortunately, she was able to track him down and express how much his deed meant to her. Trooper Stoner stated that he did what he thought was proper and did not want to be recognized for his good deed.
“I’m thinking, ‘What if she goes out on the road, and a tire goes out on her, kind of falls apart on her, and she’s on the side of the road?’” he said.
“I’m just so thankful for you,” Mary said after a teary reunion, adding, “I’m so proud, I’m proud to meet someone with such a big heart.” “I adore you to the moon and back.”
