Cedric “Beastie” Jones was an iconic trainer, boxer, and actor who impacted the many lives he touched through his craft. One of his most outstanding achievements saw him found the highly successful Beastie Boxing Gym, hence the nickname he garnered.
He also started the BMoved Foundation, which saw him inspire the lives of countless people who achieved what they formerly thought they would never be able to. More than just building an illustrious career as a visionary trainer and having garnered acting roles where he got to meet and know legendary professionals in the entertainment industry, Jones was a loving and devoted family man.
Jones tragically passed away on October 16, 2023, at 46, and the cause of his death has not been made clear. In addition to other platforms, his death was confirmed via a statement made by his boxing gym:
“It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Beastie Boxing Gym Founder, Cedric “Beastie” Jones. Cedric was a loving father, devoted husband, caring son, brother, community leader, and incredible friend who inspired others. He genuinely wanted everyone to become the best version of themselves…”
Having started from humble beginnings while trying to make it big in Hollywood, Jones used his story to inspire others to persevere through challenges and became a shining beacon among his community.
Even when he made a name for himself, Jones never became egotistical and continued to express gratitude and pay respects to those who helped get him to where he was and those he shared encounters with, like his co-star on “The Terminal List,” Chris Pratt.
He left behind his loving wife and their three minor children when he died. Being that this is the case, a GoFundMe page was created in his honor that is asking the public to help where they can with financial assistance for his family:
“…Unfortunately for us all, Cedric’s time with us has come and gone…It is now HIS family who needs OUR help…”
Many Were Devastated to Learn of Cedric ‘Beastie’ Jones’ Death and Commemorated Him in a Special Way
As a man who devoted his entire life to helping others, especially the youth, providing them with a safe space with free resources through his incredible foundation, it’s no wonder how many were devastated to learn of Jones’ death. Many expressed their grief and disbelief concerning the sad news via comments made underneath the last post he shared before his passing:
“We are absolutely heartbroken.”
Others also extended their deepest condolences to Jones’ bereaved family and sent positive healing while praying for them. Of Jones and his character, another person stated:
“Not a kinder more authentic human, I’m in total disbelief.”
To commemorate their beloved community leader and beacon, the residents of South Bay, Jones’ widow, and family members gathered to pay tribute to him. On October 23, Jones’ countless supporters held a memorial run in his honor.
The run started at Jones’ gym and ended at the Manhattan Beach Pier. At the event, Jones’ wife thanked everyone who turned out and got emotional as she shared touching words about her dearly missed late spouse.The late 46-year-old’s brother also spoke at the event, led the charge, and explained how the run would be orchestrated. Condolences continue to be sent to Jones’ loved ones as they mourn the devastating and significant loss of the light in their family.
