Newlywed Simone Biles recently showed off her and her husband Jonathan Owens’ wedding bands. However, fans were critical of how Owens’ ring looks.
This occurred after she returned to gymnastics following a two-year break since the Tokyo Olympics. Biles made a significant comeback as she won a record eighth US championship on August 27, 2023, ten years after she won her first title as a 16-year-old.
The now-26-year-old gymnast posted an all-round two-day of 118.40, four points clear of runner-up Shilese Jones in San Jose, California. Meanwhile, Florida junior Leanne Wong finished third.
Biles became the oldest woman to win a national title since the USA Gymnastics’ inception in 1963. She surpassed Alfred Jochim, who won seven titles between 1925 to 1933.
After her record-breaking performance, Biles, an Olympic gold medalist, spoke frankly about her recent achievement in an interview, saying:
“I don’t think about numbers. I think about my performance. And I think overall, I hit 8 for 8. I guess it’s a lucky number this year.”

Biles recently revealed on her Instagram that she was back home and reunited with her newlywedded husband, Owens, writing, “back together again,” to which he responded in the comments section, “Back at home.”
Biles posted a photo of her left hand over his hand, showing their matching diamond wedding rings. The sports star’s wedding band featured her engagement ring, an oval-shaped diamond set on a diamond pave band with a simple diamond band underneath.
As for the NFL star Owens, who plays for the Green Bay Packers, he had his own diamond-encrusted wedding band. It had more diamonds than his wife’s ring, which were both designed by ZoFrost.
Fans had a lot to say about Owens’ wedding ring, and he received some mixed reactions from them. Someone commented on the post, “His ring looks a little girly?”
Another person wrote, “When the man’s ring has more diamonds than the woman’s.” One Instagram follower exclaimed, “Man!!! His ring is COLD!!!!”
Another social media user stated, “This looks like the hands of two ladies. That is not a ring for a man. Why would you want to outshine your wife?”
Although there were some negative comments about Owens’ ring, others liked it. “[…] His ring is awesome. I definitely want something like that!!!” said one person. While another complimented the newlyweds, penning, “Love both of your rings!”
The couple also showed off their second wedding rings in April 2023 for their special day. Biles posted a video on her Instagram Story which showed them trying on their wedding bands.
She was excited while staring at her ring, and so was Owens, who admired his wedding band in his hand while they were visiting ZoFrost & Co. Custom Jewelry based in Houston, Texas.
Biles revealed during a Q&A that she and Owens purchased their first wedding rings on Amazon, which were for their private wedding ceremony. She later admitted to her Instagram followers that they were sparing their actual rings for their official wedding day.

Biles and Owens got hitched on April 22, 2023, in a courthouse wedding. She announced the news on her Instagram alongside photos of the newlywedded pair, who could be seen exchanging wedding vows.
The bride opted for a stunning tiered white gown for their big day, while the groom wore a tan suit. Owens also reposted similar images on his Instagram account, showing other pictures of the lovebirds saying, “I do.” He captioned his post, “My person forever.”Owens and his wife, Biles, relatively crossed paths during a Texan game in 2019. However, they officially met on a dating app called Raya in March 2020, and she initiated the first move.
Biles made her relationship with the football player Instagram official months later when she shared photos of them. In the snaps, the two were cozy as the athlete kissed her.
The duo got engaged following two years of dating. Biles announced the engagement news by sharing several snapshots on Instagram in February 2023.
Owens proposed to her under a gazebo in Houston, Texas, and she captioned her slideshow of the special moment by writing, “THE EASIEST YES,” adding she could not wait to spend the rest of her life with him and that he is more than she ever dreamed of.
