Shania Twain is a true music superstar. With hit songs like “You’re Still the One,” “That Don’t Impress Me Much” and “Man! I feel Like a Woman,” Twain has been called the Queen of Country Pop and is the best-selling female artist in country music history.
Twain made a big splash at this year’s CMT Awards this week, after the 57-year-old artist showed off a bold new look and some skin-baring outfits. Her looks have divided fans, some of whom say she looks great for her age and others say she looks unrecognizable. But Twain has defended herself from her critics, saying that she’s just trying to have some fun.Shania Twain was honored at the annual country music award ceremony, receiving the Equal Play Award given to artists who promote diverse and underrepresented voices in country music.
“Life is too short to wear boring clothes”
Arriving at the CMT Awards, Shania turned heads with her outfit: a Prabal Gurung gown with butterfly print, hip cutouts and a high slit, matching with her bright red dyed hair. The country singer later changed into another revealing outfit to accept her award: a purple crop top and matching shorts with a cowboy hat and thigh boots
She looked great — but her daring looks were not without their detractors.
Some fashion critics said she should dress more appropriately for her age, and some fans on social media said she looked “unrecognizable,” taking too drastic a departure from her old style. But now, Shania Twain is defending her looks, saying she’s just trying to have some fun and try new things. “For me fashion is a powerful tool that helps to convey my personality and express my creativity and other than getting to hang out with my friends for the night, it’s one of my favourite things about attending award shows!” she wrote in an Instagram post.

“I might change my hair color every week”
As for her brightly dyed hair, Twain said that at her age she’s starting to go gray. While some celebrities proudly embrace this mature look, Twain has taken it as an opportunity to get creative. “Over the years, I have had many different styles,” she told E! News. “I’m playing more with color right now and I’m enjoying that because I’m going gray.” “As I go gray, I’m like, ‘I might as well toy around with different colors.’ I might change my hair color every week. Why not? I’ll have an empty palette. I’m experimenting with that.”
