There’s something about his down-to-earth, easygoing manner that just makes him that much more likable – the fact that he has a natural talent for comedy doesn’t hurt one bit.Yet if reports are to believed, there’s a slightly darker aspect to Wilson’s personal life that looms like a rarely seen cloud. Owen Wilson has had a successful career in the film industry, appearing in films such as Starsky & Hutch, Wedding Crashers, Night At The Museum, and in the Woody Allen film Midnight in Paris.
For millions around the world he’s the fun-loving personality with a penchant for comedy, yet his personal life isn’t all plain sailing.It’s said that Wilson ‘refuses’ to meet his now-4-year-old daughter, Lyla, and even checked the no visitation box in court. When Wilson’s ex-girlfriend, Varunie Vongsvirates, fell pregnant in 2018, the actor promptly severed ties with her. One source even said that he switched phone numbers and failed to respond to the message Vongsvirates sent him informing him that she was with child.
Since Lyla’s birth in October, 2018, Wilson’s only involvement in her life has been the money he provides in child support – this after a paternity test confirmed that he was indeed her father.
As per reports, Wilson pays $25,000 per month for the little girl, though he has never met her, as well as shelling out $70,000 to cover the costs of a labor coach, a night nurse, and Vongsvirates’ legal bills.While in court, the actor checked the no visitation box and has no wish to have custody of her.
Vongsvirates, meanwhile, is believed to have implored her ex-boyfriend to be a part of their little girl’s life. By all accounts, Wilson is a dutiful father to his two sons, and maintains a healthy, amicable relationship with their mothers.
Yet as it pertains to little Lyla, Wilson is anything but attentive. As mentioned, it’s been reported that he’s done his utmost to distance himself from his daughter and her mother, ignoring the latter even when she sent him the following message:
“You should go visit your daughter; she’s great, and you’re losing out. She looks just like you.” Lyla allegedly has baby blue eyes and brilliant blonde hair like her father.
Speaking with The Daily Mail, Vongsvirates said that Wilson is “not involved at all” and has never met Lyla.
“He helps financially but it’s never been about that,” she said.
“Lyla needs a father. It’s ironic how [Owen] keeps getting these father roles, he’s playing a father in his new movie, and he’s never met his own daughter.”
