Jason Aldean’s new video was recently pulled by CMT after getting continuous backlash
Jason Aldean’s got someone to back his patriotism, finally.
On Thursday, during continuous criticism from liberals over his “Try That in a Small Town” music video, country music icon Lee Greenwood, well known for his uplifting song “God Bless the USA,” defended musician Jason Aldean.
“I am a Jason Aldean fan. He is the biggest patriot, like a lot of us. This has nothing to do with racism,” Greenwood said on “Jesse Watters Primetime.”
“This is about people trying to take away the freedom of expression. It is a great song, and I wish I had it… I love Jason’s approach. He is a great artist and always does the right thing.”
A recent music video by Aldean for the pro-gun, anti-crime song featured real news footage of riots and looting in 2020. The message of the song is that small towns wouldn’t put up with the rioting and lawlessness that many cities throughout the nation experienced in the summer of 2020.
Aldean’s suggestion that lawlessness would not be tolerated in a small town was deemed “racist and violent” by activists, and the country artist was accused of publishing a “pro-lynching song,” therefore CMT removed the music video from circulation.
As a “Bible-thumping, gun-toting Christian,” Greenwood applauded Aldean for capturing the “small-town flavour” in his lyrics and advised the country singer to block out the distractions.
“I am from a small town in California and people cannot take our freedom away because people know everybody in a small town and that is what the heart of America is. It’s rural America,” he said.
