In a shocking scandal, Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) is now the subject of a Federal Election Commission investigation after it was revealed that she received potentially fraudulent donations through a top Democratic fundraising platform, including more than $16,000 from an elderly couple who had no idea that they had funded her campaign.
For context, the investigation opened up after a complaint was filed with the FEC on March 26, 2025, by the Coolidge-Reagan Foundation, a conservative advocacy group devoted to protecting liberty and free speech. The complaint pointed a finger at Rep. Crockett based on the questionable nature of donations she received through ActBlue, which reportedly totaled over $800,000. After the investigation was announced, Rep. Crockett was called out on X, with conservatives describing her as a criminal. In tandem with the complaint filed by the Coolidge-Reagan Foundation, conservative attorney Sholdon Daniels, Crockett’s opponent in the last election, visited the home of Randy Best, a 73-year-old resident of Texas who reportedly donated over $16,000 to Rep. Crockett’s campaign via ActBlue. In a video shared on X on March 11, 2025, Daniels said, “It’s very peculiar that somebody up here would give that much money to a candidate in our district. Maybe they have a special connection to the district. Let’s go find out.”
Continuing, Daniels asked Randy Best’s wife if she was aware of the donations to Rep. Crockett’s campaign. Daniels explained, “His wife answered the door. She said that they had no idea what these charges were, and they had no idea that they were charged 16,000 or that then they are responsible for $16,000 in political contributions to Jasmine Crockett, yes, she has them listed as political contributors. After Sholdon Daniels posted his video, the FEC commenced its investigation, which was met with a response from Dan Backer, an attorney representing the Coolidge-Reagan Foundation, who said, “”It could be a reasonable defense for Rep. Crockett and other Democrats to say, ‘We didn’t solicit those donations, they all came in from ActBlue.’ But that would be willful blindness.”
Responding to the scandal on X, user Paul A. Szypula weighed in, saying, “FEC opens investigation into Jasmine Crockett for illegal donations from ActBlue. Sholdon Daniels, who ran against Crockett, found $16K from an elderly couple who said they never donated to her. Crockett is a criminal who assaults journalists and uses elderly to launder money. In response to Szypula’s bombshell post, other conservatives sounded off in the comments. A user with the handle Ultra MAGA Joyce Day took a humorous shot at Rep. Crockett, asking if the potentially fraudulent donations paid for “her fake eyelashes.” Another commenter chimed in, “Crockett is a racist thug that should not be put on the hill.”
The investigation into Rep. Crockett’s campaign funding opened up shortly after the leftist representative implied that using aggressive tactics was the only way to win elections in Texas, saying, “I think that you punch, I think you punch, I think you OK (sic) with punching,” and adding, “I don’t know that anybody believes we’re not weak.”
