
Jean Skoglund and her grandson were the only ones in the house when it caught fire. Her grandson was able to escape and call for help, but Skoglund died at the hospital. The grandmother used to serve in the military, and her daughter believes she saved her grandchild’s life as her last heroic act.Jean Skoglund, a mother, grandmother, and veteran, is believed to have sacrificed her life for her grandson. The grandmother and her grandson were reportedly in the house together when a fire broke out at their Paulding County home.
The teenager managed to escape, but when he tried to go back for his grandmother, who was stuck on the second floor, the flames and smoke were too strong. When firefighters eventually made it to the scene, they found Skoglund passed out in the hallway.The firefighters pulled her out, but unfortunately, Skoglund died at the hospital. Her daughter Angela Perez was hurt to have lost a parent, but she praised Skoglund for being the best mother.
Not only was she a great mother to her children, but Skoglund served in the Air Force and Army and served two overseas tours. The cause of the fire is still being investigated, but it is reportedly believed to have been a kitchen fire.
