The annual class photo day is a really special time for kids because they can choose their own outfits. But, for some, it can be a bit nerve-wracking. They worry about what others might think of what they wear every day, and posing for pictures can feel a bit awkward.
Three-year-old Kaylieann Steinbach was eagerly looking forward to her class picture the night before. However, her excitement turned to sadness when she saw the clothes her parents had picked out for her. This little girl likes to make her own choices, especially when it comes to clothes.
Kaylieann loves Superman and Supergirl, but because she has trouble hearing the letter “S,” she calls them “Pooterman” and “Pootergirl.” When her parents presented her with different outfit options, she insisted on her superhero choice.
“Pootergirl!” she happily declared.
Her dad, Austin Steinbach, couldn’t argue with that choice. Kaylieann proudly wore her superhero outfit for the class picture, radiating joy as she posed for the photographers with her Supergirl suit and a doll.
Austin mentioned that Kaylieann often wears different costumes to school, and both the teachers and students look forward to seeing which superhero suit she’ll pick each day.
When Austin shared Kaylieann’s class photo on Reddit, the response was overwhelming. He received a lot of supportive messages, especially from the deaf community.
“The reaction and turnout from the deaf community is amazing,” he said. “I still haven’t been able to get through all the messages of support and kind words people have sent me. I could never have imagined how much her picture could have touched so many,” Austin Steinbach told the Huffington Post.
Kaylieann is a brave girl, a true superhero! If you loved reading about how she fulfilled her big dream, feel free to share the article!
