The homeless become “invisible people” in large cities where the homeless population is so large that most people choose to simply ignore them.
To better understand the problem for an upcoming role, actor Richard Gere went undercover as a homeless person. With virtually no effort to hide his true identity, one of the most recognizable actors in the world remained hidden in plain sight.
He wrote about his experience in a post on Facebook.
Karine Gombeau, a French tourist, was one of the only people to stop and help Gere. When she found him looking for food in a garbage can, Gombeau gave him her leftover pizza. She was interviewed about the experience in the video below.
