Millions of conservatives across America are calling on everyone – from liberals to conservatives – to issue a staunch boycott against the fried chicken food company Chick-fil-A because the company has promised to “embed diversity in everything we do.” Now that the fast-food company has hired a Vice President of “diversity, equity, inclusion,” critics of the company are rebelling against its “woke agenda” by refusing to shop at Chick-fil-A for their fried chicken needs.
Historically, conservatives have loved and lauded Chick-fil-A since it was founded on religious principles. The Christian company has long been known to be anti-LGBTQ and anti-abortion, but those things are changing with the changing landscape of progressive America.
Previously, Chick-fil-A announced that they had hired Erick McReynolds as their Vice President of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI). He has been working for the popular fast-food chain since 2020. However, the news of his hiring recently resurfaced online and has shocked many Chick-fil-A customers who fear that the conservative Christian brand has “gone woke.”
Chick-fil-A’s woke agenda began in earnest in 2021 when they released a statement claiming how they were going to do better for their workers and customers alike in a mission they called “Better at Together.”
“We understand that the path toward Better at Together looks different for every business,” the statement stated. “At Chick-fil-A, Inc., our commitment is to approach this work with intention and humility, always believing the best in one another and striving for common ground. We’re early on in our journey, but we’re honored by the opportunity to steward our organization’s greatest asset – our people – and are energized by the road ahead.”
McReynolds has often argued that DEI is essential for Chick-fil-A if the company wants to achieve its corporate goals to rake in as much cash as possible from Americans who are hungry for their popular fried chicken dishes.
“Chick-fil-A restaurants have long been recognized as a place where people know they will be treated well. Modeling care for others starts in the restaurant, and we are committed to ensuring mutual respect, understanding, and dignity everywhere we do business,” the Vice President of DEI said. “These tenets are good business practice and crucial to fulfilling our Corporate Purpose.”
The Chick-fil-A website claims that its DEI initiative will “focus on promoting equal access to opportunities, valuing differences and ‘creating a culture of belonging.”
Despite the chain’s best efforts to support its workers and customers, conservatives are outraged that the Christian restaurant has gone “woke.”
One social media user said, “Something tells me Chick-fil-A is going to be called to repent soon.”
Another added: “Hi Chick-fil-A, 100k+ lifetime points since the app was launched. You’ve now lost my family after this ridiculous Marxist DEI statement. Very sad/disappointed, and I know my money doesn’t matter… but I guess it was just a matter of time before you allowed the communists to take over.”
