Everything about Goldie Hawn glows. Boasting natural golden locks, an infectious smile and youthful skin that casts an enviable glow, Goldie Hawn, aptly named, is radiant at 77. As the matriarch of a celebrity family–her legacy includes celebrated actors Oliver (46) and Kate Hudson (43), and Wyatt Russell (36)–the Overboard star has a no fuss beauty regimen.
In an interview with BE Ageless, Hawn said, “I don’t know if I’d call it beauty, or more just ‘taking care of.’ I wash my face every night and I massage it for about three minutes and then I put creams on my face and I go to sleep. And then I wake up in the morning and do the same thing!”
She continued, “I put on a little sun guard in the morning when I remember and the rest of it is just making sure that you’re hydrated and that you eat a lot of oil-based foods or oils, and smile a lot.”
Known for her comedic prowess, the blonde-haired beauty first tested her acting chops on the TV comedy series, Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In (1968-1970). Around the same time, she was cast in the leading role in the romantic comedy Cactus Flower (1969), a role that earned her an Academy Award and a Golden Globe.
There was no stopping Hawn, whose girl-next-door look landed her starring roles in films like Stephen Spielberg’s The Sugarland Express (1972), Private Benjamin (1980), Best Friends (1982) with Hollywood heartthrob Burt Reynolds, Overboard (1987) with partner Kurt Russell, Death Becomes Her with Meryl Streep, alongside Bette Milder and Dianne Keaton in The First Wives Club (1996), and The Christmas Chronicles (two installments, 2018 and 2020) where her and Russell Santa and Mrs. Claus.
Hawn has been wed twice, her last marriage to Bill Hudson of the musical group The Hudson Brothers, whom with she had two children, Kate, and Oliver. Kate is known for her breakout role in Almost Famous (2000), which earned her a Golden Globe and Oscar nomination, and the superstar can also be seen as the leading lady in films like How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days (2003), Fool’s Gold (2008) and Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery (2022). Her brother Oliver starred in the TV comedy series Rules of Engagement (2007-2013) and the musical drama Nashville (2013-2015). He also stars in the Christmas Chronicles with Hawn and Russell, who coupled up in 1983.
Together the pair have one son, Wyatt Russell, a former professional hockey player who used his slick skills on the ice for his role in the hilarious cult hockey movie, Goon: Last of the Enforcers (2017). Wyatt also had leading roles in Overlord (2018) and most notably as John Walker, the New Captain America, in the Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (2021)
After almost five decades of acting and bearing three children, Hawn still looks beautiful and when she’s all done up, she looks just like the gorgeous Kate. You may think she pays a fortune on beauty products but one of her go-to items is something you likely already have in your kitchen.
“There are great creams out there. Creams with this and creams with that, but I ingest oil,” said Hawn revealing her beauty secret is olive oil. “The skin is our biggest organ, and as you get older, you get drier. I ingest two tablespoons of olive oil before bed and massage my face.”
In addition to olive oil, the generational beauty said she’s also used coconut oil on her face while her mother applied freshly squeezed lemon.
In an interview with Allure, Kate said, “I think it’s more the stuff we eat. Like green juice–mom’s been drinking green juice forever. And taking teaspoons of olive oil. We love products and we have fun with products, but in terms of the real stuff that I’ve learned from mom, it’s her lifestyle. She was always healthy and active and drinking something green.”
As for her famous golden locks, it’s all natural. “I know it sounds strange, but I’ve never colored my hair. I just put a regular rinse on it because I don’t have any chemicals on it.”
Kate, however, is more experimental with her hair. “Me, on the other hand, I don’t know what my hair color is anymore. I’ve gone from red to dark to brown to really dark brown to blonde,” she said.
If you’re wondering how she keeps her body looking so good, Hawn uses physical activity–like trampolining, yoga, weights and strolls–to boost her mood. As the founder of MindUp, a program designed to help children better process emotions, Hawn advocates the benefits of exercise in improving overall mental health.
And, if her glowing real-life character is any indication of how activity improves your outlook on life, I’d say she’s right!
