Concluding a case that rocked the nation, a Milwaukee jury convicted former election official Kimberly Zapata of misconduct for obtaining fake absentee ballots. She was initially charged in 2022 with a count of felony misconduct and three counts of election fraud, and was found guilty of all charges. Zapata used her position at the Milwaukee Election Commission to request ballots under fake names and Social Security numbers, and then cast them for a candidate of her choice.
As background, Republicans have been sounding the alarm about voter fraud since the 2020 election, and despite the mounting evidence, the Democrats and their allies in the mainstream media have dismissed the concerns. Specifically, many critics have pointed out the risk in absentee ballots, which are filled out and then mailed to a polling place without oversight.
Such was shown when a video discussing Zapata’s sentencing was posted to X on April 2, 2025. In the post, conservative influencer Real Robert broke down the case. He said, “No election fraud in Wisconsin? ANOTHER DEMOCRAT, Wisconsin Election Commission director Kimberly Zapata found guilty on all felony counts for falsifying military ballots.”
Providing additional information, he described her unsuccessful legal defence. Real Robert declared, “Zapata told investigators she was trying to prove there is fraud in our elections. It turns out she was absolutely right. Milwaukee Assistant District Attorney Matthew Westphal said Zapata’s actions were “an attack on our electoral system,” which only works if the public can trust those administering it.”
In the comments under his post, users were incensed by the shameful crime. One such comment said, “It’s hard to trust any election that does not have safeguards in place to ensure a legitimate vote. Why is all of the election fraud found committed by the left?” Another user asked, “Well did she get caught or did she bring evidence forward…. Or did she get caught and then …..[?] oh oh oh I’m a whistleblower. I’m sure we already know the answer to that.”
Objecting to the relatively light sentence she received, some accounts were dissatisfied. One of the replies said, “She got 1 year probation, a $3000 fine and 120 hours of community service. She should have gotten 5 years of prison. Until they start putting these people in prison, the fraud will continue.” Agreeing, another said, “These people need to be made examples of… The judiciary needs to send a message loud and clear that vote fraud will not be tolerated. Ou[r] democracy will die if voter fraud continues.”
Speculating as to the security of more recent elections, one account wondered if the fraud was exclusive to Zapata. He stated, “I could be mistaken, but isn’t that the same place that had an election yesterday? That’s just so weird. I hope there weren’t any problems with yesterday’s election. I’m sure that this doesn’t make anything seem suspicious… At all. Wonder how many illegals voted.”
Rouding out the comments, a Wisconsin voter offered their perspective on the election fraud, saying, “Wisconsin needs to pay attention. Do you really think it is a coincidence that this comes out just at the time the corrupt “person” wins the election who the world knows has lied repeatedly and so much worse? Personally, I would call for a recall with independent sources before you lose the good of Wisconsin for good.”
