Michelle Obama may have a new role in her entertainment portfolio after she debuted as a host on her ‘IMO with Michelle Obama & Craig Robinson’ podcast earlier this month, but people close to the former first lady say that she has lost her position as the darling of Tinseltown.
Speaking to Radar Online, sources close to the wife of Barack Obama, 63, shared that Michelle has lost favor with liberal elites after rejecting their calls for her to run in the 2024 presidential election.
Democratic elites alienate Michelle Obama
Michelle Obama, once respected by Hollywood block, founded a production company, Higher Ground, with her husband in 2018. However, the Obamas’ joint venture is yet to book a profit despite inking a multimillion-dollar deal with Netflix.
The sources shared that while Michelle used to hobnob with the creamiest layer of the Hollywood elites – including Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg – her connection with Hollywood has weakened over the past few months.
“She assumed people in high places would be lining up with checks and only too glad to back her,” shared the source before pointing out the changed scenario, “But it’s been a lot of unreturned phone calls and canceled meetings since November,” when the Democrats lost to the Republicans.
It was previously reported that the Democrats wanted the Illinois native to run in the presidential election in place of former President Joe Biden. Following her refusal, the then-Vice President Kamala Harris stepped in and became the Democratic candidate in the election.
Another insider shared, “They are furious with her for not listening to Barack and running. They’re convinced there would have been a different outcome.”
“Now, they are not nearly as willing to help her with her Hollywood endeavors. Their attitude is, ‘Why should we help Michelle if she didn’t step up for us?’ She’s been almost totally frozen out of her beloved elite circles now,” added the source.

Another political source shared that following the election, the equation between the former first couple has also suffered a blow, and that they are reportedly living separate lives.
“Barack put immense pressure on Michelle to run, and she outright refused. This put a pin in his plans to maintain Democratic control of Washington and pay back HIS Hollywood pals, and now they’re paying HER back,” they noted.
The insider added that despite everything, Michelle’s producing career is “going nowhere,” and that she has started to panic.
“People around her are saying she would have been better off running for president. At least Washington, DC, is a cut-throat world she knows how to handle,” shared the tipster.
