During an angry tirade on ABC’s “The View,” show co-host Joy Behar went berserk snapping about President Donald Trump and Department of Government Efficiency head Elon Musk, and ended up making some potentially slanderous comments about Elon Musk. She then had to correct her own libel live on air.
Those comments came during a rant in which Behar alleged that President Donald Trump is napping while Elon Musk acts like an “enemy of the United States.” She said, kicking off that rant, that President Trump is ok with that state of things because he just wants to stay out of jail. She said, “Trump is happy right now with this situation be because he only ran to stay out of jail.”
Continuing, the ABC show co-host claimed that Trump, the man who made billions in the real estate market, isn’t bright enough to be president. She said, “I think that’s true I don’t think he ever wanted really the responsibility of the job. He’s not really bright enough to handle the job.”
Building on that, she smeared Elon for having been born in South Africa before it got rid of apartheid, saying, “Elon Musk kisses his butt and strokes his his tiny ego or big ego whatever it is and um and he doesn’t get to do — he can take a nap while the guy was not born in this country who was born under apartheid in South Africa.”
That’s when she made her potentially libelous comment about Elon’s supposed support for the apartheid system, saying, “So he has that mentality going on. He was pro apartheid, as I understand it.” Chiming in, one of Behar’s fellow co-hosts, Alyssa Farah Griffin, said, “He naturalized citizen now.”
Behar wasn’t having it, saying that Elon is a “foreigner” and “enemy” of America who is destroying the country while Trump naps. She snapped, “This is perfectly wonderful for Trump. He can take a nap while a foreigner, this foreign agent, an enemy of the United States do his job.”
The show then cut to a commercial break, after which Behar had to correct herself and walk back her slanderous smears. She said, trying to hedge her self-correction, “Now I’m getting some flack because I said that Musk was pro-Apartheid. I don’t really know for sure if he was.”

She then again attacked Elon for being born in South Africa before it ended the apartheid system, saying, “He grew up at that time when the Apartheid party was in full bloom, before the great Nelson Mandela fix that. He was around at that time. But maybe he was. Maybe he wasn’t.”
Adding to that, she begged Elon Musk to not sue her for her claims about his supposed support for apartheid, saying, “He might have been a young guy, too. So don’t be suing me okay, Elon? They’re allowed to say any lie they want, but we have to be really strict. That’s why this show’s important.”
Behar also acted as if she was being oppressed by not being able to lie about Elon and make up things about his life and views, saying that she has to “be really strict” about correcting herself. She snapped, “They’re allowed to say any lie they want, but we have to be really strict.”
