A wild video from late in October of 2023 shows a pro-Trump crowd meeting and a member of it hilariously flaming the current president, Joe Biden, known largely for the inflation seen under his watch and his continuing gaffes and awkward moments. As of the time this article was written, June 9 of 2024, the latest of those was his embarassing performance in Normandy.
Biden was known for much the same by the fall of 2023 as well, and so a member of the pro-Trump crowd was caught on tape shouting that Biden was “oatmeal brains,” a reference to the elderly president’s alleged lack of mental capacity, an intractible problem that many on the right say has only gotten worse in the months since.
“Oatmeal brains” is a phrase that Dan Bongino appears to have made popular in the spring of 2023. In his episod 2066, which came out in April of 2023, he used the term, saying, “What’s oatmeal brains doing? Our POTUS? Well, he’s hanging out on the beach, sunning his nuts or something like that. He was asked about the rising death toll in Hawaii. No comment. He said before heading home. ‘No comment.’ Nothing to say, nothing to offer.”
In the video, former President Donald Trump addresses a large crowd of reporters and supporters, many of whom are wearing his campaign’s red MAGA hats. Speaking to the crowd, Trump asks, “How about Biden,” and was met with a hilarious roar of dismissive comments about the sitting president. One audience member yelled, referring to Biden, “Oatmeal Brains!”
Commenting on a clip of the incident posted by Citizen Free Press, commenters joked that the comment was too unkind to oatmeal, as it is at least a nutritious food with substance. One, for example, joked, “That is an insult to a very tasty and nutritious breakfast food.” Another added, “Oatmeal is a lot more substantial than Biden’s actual gray matter.”

Bongino isn’t the only one to use “oatmeal” to refer to President Biden. Daily Wire personality Matt Walsh did so as well when speaking about Biden and his speech on vaccine mandates, calling the sitting president a “rotting bag of oatmeal” when speaking to then-Fox News Channel host Tucker Carlson about the vaccine mandate issue.
Walsh said, during that appearance on Tucker “We had to elect this rotting bag of oatmeal to get a real tyrant… Maybe this, in the end, is a good thing, in the sense that it’s a time for choosing for Americans… Are we going to comply and lie down to this, or are we finally going to stand up and say, ‘You know what, it’s not gonna happen.’”
In another incident, after an embarrasing Biden appearance at a bike shop in which it appeared that President Biden had to have a hand put in front of him to stop walking forward, one poster on X (formerly Twitter), said, “Biden is gone…oatmeal brains. No bike shop owner gets to lay hands on the President of the United States…unless it’s Joey.”
