Renowned record executive Simon Cowell is a proud father of one and welcomed his child with his longtime love, socialite Lauren Silverman.
The couple has been together for several years and dotes on their now teenage son, Eric. Their first and only child together.
Per his autobiography, called “Simon Cowell – The Man Who Changed the World,” by David Nolan, Cowell believed that he would never have a child because of his age:
“[…] Again and again, he’d stated that he was too old to become a father and that he was happy as he was.”
In a 2009 interview, the world-famous television personality reiterated his stance on having children and joked about what would occur if he had them:
“God, no. I couldn’t have children. If I had them here drawing on the walls, I’d go nuts. You’ve got to be up at a certain time. Got to listen. When all you want to do is sit in a corner thinking.”
However, as time progressed, Cowell seemed to have a change of heart about being a dad. In a March 2012 interview, he said he was fond of children because he could communicate with them and listen to them.
The entrepreneur stated the only issue about becoming a parent is that he would always have to make time to raise them, while he has dedicated much of his time to his work through the years. “And at 52, I’ve probably missed the opportunity,” he said.
