“Black Panther” stuntman Taraja Ramsess and three of his children tragically passed away on Halloween night. Their unexpected deaths left a void in all those who knew them.Taraja Ramsess and his children were traveling on a freeway when their car slammed into a tractor-trailer. The trailer had broken down on the left side of the I-20 freeway near the Wesley Chapel Road exit.
Ramsess was in the car with five of his children. The 41-year-old stuntman and his daughters Sundari, 13, and Fugibo, eight weeks, were killed at the scene.
Three of his children initially survived the crash. His 10-year-old son Kisasi died at the hospital days after being on life support. Meanwhile, two of his daughters survived.
Ramsess worked as a set dresser and a stuntman. He was on several blockbuster hits like “Creed III,” “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” “Black Adam,” “Avengers: End Game,” “Bad Boys for Life,” and more.Following news of his death, actress Ava DuVernay made sure to pay tribute to her fallen colleague. “Taraja. We’d talk about art and his family. My goodness, did he love his children. A happy, whole love. Beautiful to behold. He loved making movies and TV too,” she wrote.
His friends and family are publicly mourning this devastating loss. His long-time pal Tony Tony Tucci broke down when he first heard the news. “He was always a family man,” he said of his late friend.
Taraja’s mom, Akili, also made sure to pay tribute to her son on Instagram. She made the painful announcement regarding his and her grandchildren’s deaths on Instagram, where people flooded her with sympathies.
“All who knew and met him know how special Taraja was. He had a deep capacity for love and loved his children more than all. He loved his martial arts, motorcycles and all things related to filmmaking.”The grieving mother and grandmother requested continued prayers as she waited for her grandchildren’s recovery. She also thanked all those who have supported their family during such a challenging time.
A friend of the Ramsess family created a GoFundMe fundraiser for them as they tried to navigate their loss. The page has garnered over $90,000 from over 1000 donations, with a goal of one day reaching #150,000.
