Ty Pennington is updating fans on his status after being hospitalized and intubated only hours after attending the Barbie premiere.
Pennington, best known as the carpenter on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, uploaded photographs of himself wearing a medical gown on Instagram on July 14.
Pennington was intubated at one point before regaining consciousness. «From the red carpet to the intensive care unit… what a week!»
Pennington went on to say to his supporters, «I’m okay now, still recovering, but I felt it looked strange that I hadn’t posted about my team’s #BOTB VICTORY!» «I’m so proud of @smashingdiy and @iamstevelewis!»
Pennington went on to describe the circumstances of what happened. «To explain why I went MIA… On Sunday, I attended the red carpet for Barbie the Movie, traveled to Colorado on Monday to begin filming in Breckinridge, and awoke around 4 a.m. on Tuesday, hardly able to breathe. It turns out that the sore throat I’ve had for the past month is really an abscess that has grown large enough to restrict my airway. I was immediately intubated and taken to the Denver ICU.
«I underwent surgery on Wednesday and was released from the intensive care unit yesterday afternoon.» Thank you so much to Summit Health in Frisco and St. Anthony’s in Lakewood, CO, for taking such good care of me. «Just happy to be here,» Pennington wrote below the hashtag, and it’s a great reminder to listen to your body when it’s trying to tell you something.
How terrifying! We are delighted to hear that Pennington is now doing well and on the mend!
